Didsbury Kitchen
This old manor house conversion certainly had the owners scratching their heads for how to transform the quirky corner of their apartment into something modern, fresh but in keeping with the period of their traditional home.
One of the difficulties presented is that there is a supporting beam in the centre of the room, so we needed to create a design that used all the available space but didn’t create a dark enclosed space that would hide away the person cooking.
Open plan shelving provides easy access and makes a great feature for the keen cooks designer pans and accessories. Plentiful solid cupboards offer storage for food and less used kitchenware, whilst feature lit glass door cabinets allow treasured possessions to be on show, and dust free.
This Schuller C German kitchen is called Vienna, and is satin painted in Forest and Sage Green, with several Natural Oak effect external cabinets to provide interest and contrast.
The worktop is a 20mm Calacatta Gold effect to add colour, texture and a touch of luxury to this compact, but hard-working room.

Lighting is a key feature in this room, where the owners love entertaining. They can change the mood in their Didsbury kitchen by upping the temperature of the lighting from warm to cool, and even change the colour – all from a handy remote control.
