The Brief

Our client had three separate rooms, but wanted to open up the kitchen, add a breakfast bar, and create a sociable area to cook in when their friends were over. They didn’t want to swap the kitchen for the dining room as they would lose too much living space. A creative solution that worked around the structural wall between the kitchen and dining room was necessary.

JD Kitchens Solution

To create the open plan living area, with the desired breakfast bar and show cooking station, we explored multiple layout options to how we could remove the separating wall and swap the kitchen for the dining room. Unfortunately they all involved either considerable expense, or significant compromise, neither of which were acceptable solutions. After working closely with the client, we found the perfect solution…

Jason created the open plan kitchen dining room, including a stunning breakfast bar, and providing the much-coveted cooking station. Importantly, Jason was able to do this with a stunning design that brings all three rooms together, maintaining the large family living space. Worktops sit either side of the Neff induction hob that is placed on the dividing wall, and cupboards and drawers sit below it. We installed an angled Neff extractor fan to quickly and quietly remove cooking odours. The area is both aesthetically balanced and practical.

Jason’s design extended the kitchen into the conservatory breakfast room via an archway. The sleek and smooth lines of the Quartz Infiniti Arizona worktop brings the whole room together, with contemporary styling. Hiding the Neff dishwasher and Neff fridge-freezer behind closed doors keeps the kitchen well organised and clean, with a Neff washing machine tidily tucked under the counter too. Further cupboards were installed in the dining room to extend the look of the kitchen into the dining room unobtrusively, and create more storage.

Floor to ceiling handle-less Schuller C Unigloss cupboards in grey brought clean lines and precision engineering to the space. Integrated Neff appliances were all hidden behind the sleek gloss doors. Jason installed a Neff pyrolytic oven and a compact oven and microwave, housing them neatly on top of each other.

The Blanco – Etagon Silgranit sink in Alumetallic blends into the worktop and is complemented by a Blanco Eye brushed steel tap.

A Glowing Review:

“I would just like to thank JD Kitchens for the fabulous kitchen you have just installed. Not just the quality and look of the kitchen but in particular the fantastic customer service. After looking around at various companies I was a little confused and felt uncomfortable with some of the service.

From the day I walked into your showroom I was very comfortable and felt you listened and have managed the project so well and have been very attentive. When I had issues with my builders you stepped in with a plasterer and moved your itinerary around to fit in.

Kev the fitter was wonderful. He did a great job and was very laid back which put me at ease. I would recommend you to any of my friends knowing that you provide a really good service with friendly and expert customer service.”
